When To Use Offset Printing
Offset printing is best utilized when you have a large production order that seldom changes content. Offset printing requires a longer set-up time than digital printing; however, you can use offset printing in conjunction with digital printing if you need part of a large order quickly.
Offset printing makes sense for projects that require large sheet sizes, such as posters, book covers, and certain kinds of brochures. Offset can accommodate sheet sizes of 28 inches and 40 inches.
If exact color quality if a must, offset printing is the way to go. Offset printing can use custom mix ink to match Pantone defined colors, resulting in an exact replica to the original color.
Projects that work well with offset printing include (but aren’t limited to):
- Business Cards
- Benefit Programs
- Event Flyers
- Sports Programs
- Carbonless Forms
- Message Pads
- Team Banners
- Annual Reports
- Point-of-Purchase Displays

What is Offset Printing?
Offset printing, also referred to as offset lithography, has been around since the beginning of the 20th century. During offset printing, an image is first inked on an etched metal plate, then transferred to a rubber cylinder, and finally pressed onto the final product, which could be paper, glass, wood, cloth, leather, or metal, among others. The printed matter is flush with the printed medium, not slightly raised as with letterpress.
