About the project
Stylist, production designer, artist and soul-smiler Shannon Hookway (@akashea) was the perfect creative to interpret the Danish word “hygge.” The word, like all of the others in this year’s FUEL 18: LINGO calendar, has no direct translation into English. It means to be cozy with friends and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Something Shannon strives for each day, living life from the inside out.
Delicate pastel brushstrokes and soulful words are as warm and welcoming as a cup of Danish glogg in @akashea Shannon Hookway’s interpretation of the Danish word “hygge” for this year’s FUEL 18: LINGO calendar.
Cohber worked closely with the FUEL creative team to select papers and print production methods to best showcase the creative. January’s FUEL 18: LINGO page features a painting by @akashea that interprets the Danish word “hygge.” To play up the painterly brushstrokes, the team selected Digiprint Canvas White, a stock that looks and feels like an actual canvas. Cohber’s KM-1 Digital UV Ink-Jet Press renders the brushstrokes so vividly, you can almost feel the texture of the paint.
Freelance designer and FUEL creative team members Diane Fitzgerald Harris @dfhdesign and Michele Randall @michele.randall created unique typography inspired by each of the words in our FUEL 18: LINGO calendar. January’s word “hygge” is depicted in a kind of a typographic embrace.
